Tameside Council chooses Quartet Contests and British Open Solo

A recent announcement was made on 4BR that the Tameside Metropolitan Council was going to withdraw its sponsorship from the British Open Solo and Quartet but it has been found out that they have changed back their decision and they will continue their sponsorship with them.
The earlier announcement gave the Council time to think about alternatives and opportunities and how to maintain their lively role in supporting the event for one more year in spite of the strict financial conditions they are facing.

A spokesperson from the Council informed us that the British Open Solo and the Quartet Championship is a very minor part of the entire music event that has been nurtured by Tameside for so many years. The developing also took place of many of the annual brass band competitions, ‘Splendid Weekend’ and a number of high quality music concerts.

Roy Oldham who is the Tameside Council’s Executive Leader and Councilor said that the council is full y equipped in supporting such and more events like these and there will be no reduction in the their numbers.
